Thermal Performance Evaluation for Two Designs of Flat-Plate Solar Air Heater: An Experimental and CFD Investigations

The main objective of this research was to create two different configurations a flat-plate solar air heater, namely, Conventional-Case A and Modified-Case B, develop three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model using ANSYS R15.0. purpose the CFD simulate heat transfer behavior proposed heaters under unsteady conditions. RNG k-ε turbulence employed for study. experiments were conducted on sunny days, same conditions as Egyptian climate. results show that simulated measured outlet airflow temperatures, relative humidity, velocities tested compared. developed made very satisfactory predictions. Moreover, deviations between average temperatures experimental 7% 7.8% Case B A, respectively. CFD-simulated humidity reduced by 31.6% when compared with it 28.8% comparing data B. Additionally, thermal efficiencies obtained 28.7% 21.6%, respectively, while cases 26.4% 18.2%, can be used design other heater designs.
